One year from now, Washington will be aflutter with inauguration festivities. And I am constantly reminded that almost all events from a single day of the campaign are pretty much forgotten – like Mitt Romney’s income or Newt Gingrich’s ads against Romney – once the nominees are decided and the votes are cast. A lot can and will happen between today and the inauguration. We forget this and get caught up in the events of the day. But I am pretty sure of one thing – elections come and go and some don’t really matter. But this one will. It will matter greatly. The country will choose between two very different visions and directions. More is on the line than probably any other election in our lifetime. It is that important.
